Primary Purpose of Position

The Training Specialist is responsible for the development and successful execution of all training courses and events within the Sonnenalp Hotel and Club. This role works to support the design and maintenance of course content and training materials. This role also tracks, measures and reports on training impact throughout the organization ensuring employee skill development and increased engagement to organizational strategies. The successful candidate will be an organizational guru, be able to work with and engage internal clients at all levels within the organization, possess excellent communication and presentation skills and have a desire to improve the talent within the organization through different training and development initiatives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works as a member of the T&D Team to develop training plans that meet learning objectives of new /existing business processes.
  • Performs administrative and logistical tasks such as communications, scheduling of training, classroom preparation, setting up/checking equipment, maintaining attendance records, monitoring costs, developing rewards & recognition programs and performing follow-ups on training initiatives.
  • Updates/maintains training data to measure usage, participation, feedback and impact.        
  • Participates in the development of instructional seminars and presentations using a variety of training tools to enhance learning such as user guides, videos, tutorials, and e-learning.         
  • Designs and develops customized documentation including training guides, procedures, presentations, handouts and e-learning modules as needed.         
  • Designs, captures and produces videos, pictures, and graphics for use in support of functional training and presentations.         
  • Delivers on-going training sessions for New Hire On-boarding and related department/company training needs.        
  • Monitors and coaches new hire graduates until required job proficiencies have been attained.         
  • Facilitates assigned training sessions and/or performs one-on-one support with users.
  • Assesses/validates learning needs and impacts through surveys, interviews with employees, or consultations with managers.
  • Acquires in-depth knowledge of software applications and related business policies and procedures.         
  • Leads training classes as needed.
  • Attends various training and development learning classes (online and in-person) for personal development and growth.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Business, Education; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.        
  • 2-years' experience supporting, developing and/or delivering hands-on training of adult learners in a hospitality or business environment.        
  • Proficiency with Adobe Captivate and Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel and PowerPoint        
  • At least 1 year of experience working with an LMS or equivalent system with mobile access.        
  • At least 1 year of experience with development and management of training content using web-based or multi-media applications.        
  • At least 1 year of experience with designing and developing written instructional materials of the highest quality.        
  • At least 1 year of experience as a facilitator/presenter.

Preferred Competencies:

  • Knowledge of training & development practices and methods including needs assessment and instruction design for instructor led, virtual, online, and blended training.
  • Knowledge of learning theories & principles including adult learning theory.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize projects with attention to detail and follow through.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills.        
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills.        
  • Demonstrated high level of professionalism and collaboration.        
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and multi-task.        
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships.        
  • Bi-lingual ability to speak fluent Spanish - a significant plus.

Special Skills/Equipment

  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office applications - Word, Power Point, Excel        
  • At least 1 year of experience using web-based or multi-media applications to develop and produce training content.
  • Has utilized a variety of training tools to enhance learning such as user guides, videos, tutorials and e-learning
  • Experience with video editing and creation of training videos a plus.
