The Swiss Chalet at The Sonnenalp Hotel is currently seeking full-time seasonal servers. This position is for 5 days per week with variable days, approximately 40 hours weekly.

Primary Purpose of Position

The purpose of this position is to interact with our guests and ensure they have a great experience when dining at the restaurant. Restaurant Servers are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. At all times, servers are expected to be attentive to our guest needs and making them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed.  


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set restaurant for business: responsible for all assigned opening, closing and side work duties
  • Prepare and set the tables, lay out napkins and utensils, make sure condiments are refilled, perform all other preparation tasks
  • Stay updated on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations, be aware if the kitchen staff is running out of any items, etc.
  • Inform guests of food and drink specials
  • Have thorough knowledge of all menu items and their ingredients and answer guest questions about food and drinks
  • Handle the table bookings, direct customers to their tables, present menus, suggest dishes, assist in drink selection, inform customers about food preparation details, communicate specific customer needs to the cooks
  • Maintain proper dining experience by delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses
  • Serve food and drink while creating a professional and caring relationship with customers
  • Properly open and pour wine at the tableside
  • Upsell items as directed by management, to include special menu items
  • Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor
  • Fill in for absent staff as needed
  • Assist with special events as needed
  • Greet all guests warmly with an appropriate greeting
  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently
  • Communicate products and services available at the hotel in order to promote other areas
  • Adhere to LHW standards at all times
  • Participate in related F&B training/seminar program such as LQA classes and wine training as needed
  • Assist Host/Hostess in greeting and seating guests as needed
  • Keep a safe and clean working environment for staff as well as guests
  • Act as a responsible, personable representative of the Sonnenalp team

Recommended Skills and Qualifications:

• TIPS certified preferred
• At least two years of serving experience required
• Friendly, warm and enthusiastic personality
• Luxury hotel experience preferred
